The Way of Suffering walked by Jesus was a narrow path entrusted to him. As I walked the slot canyon in Utah I was struck by the similarities. The narrow path, risky to enter, dangerous, even deadly during rain.
The canyon was shaped by the water in such a way that walking sections of the canyon felt like a dance. The same dance the water took is now walked by all who walk this path.
The power of water also formed the shape that now sustains a grove of Cottonwood in the middle of the desert. The water created the path, the dance, that now sustains life.
This Way of Suffering has torn the veil and joined the human and divine, bringing a new way of living in the face of death … a sort of movement that might resemble a dance.
